Tuchel gives update on Kante’s injury ahead of Aston Villa, Man City matches

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has claimed N’Golo Kante was taken off as a precaution during their 2-1 win over Leicester City on Tuesday. Kante was replaced by Mateo Kovacic after only 32 minutes of the encounter. It was Kovacic’s first game since April 10 due to a hamstring injury. Tuchel is now hoping Kante is not injured ahead of their last league fixture against Aston Villa and the Champions League final against Manchester City. “I hope that N’Golo is not injured. “He told me he went out before an injury. He felt his hamstrings, he was worried that he’d get injured if he continued to play. “So we put out Kova [Kovacic] . That was a huge risk but it was the moment to take risk as it was a game of highest importance. I am happy it worked out. “Hopefully NG [Kante] will come back, we are a different team with him,” Tuchel said. Chelsea vs Leicester City: This is my unluckiest season – Timo Werner

Chelsea striker, Timo Werner, has claimed that this is his unluckiest season as a footballer. Werner arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer in a £47.5m deal from RB Leipzig. Although he started well for the Blues, he lost form and has scored only 12 times for the Blues. During the 2-1 win over Leicester City on Tuesday night, the German striker saw two goals chalked off and was denied a penalty. Werner however won the spot kick that Jorginho converted to make it 2-0 in the second half. “The first half was the picture of the whole season for me. “I think it’s the unluckiest season I have ever had and will have maybe. Offside, a clear penalty and then I want to make a header, I get a little push and I head it against my arm. “But when you are so unlucky but you still reach the Champions League final and maybe reach the Champions League next season, everything is good,” Werner told Sky Sports. EPL: This has to stop – Tuchel blasts ‘horrible’ VAR after Leicester win

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has hit out at Video Assistant Referee (VAR), after several decisions went against them during their 2-1 win over Leicester City on Tuesday night. Timo Werner saw two goals ruled out and was denied a penalty when he appeared to be kicked by Youri Tielemans inside the box. Although goals from Antonio Rudiger and Jorginho sealed the victory in front of fans at Stamford Bridge, Tuchel was left frustrated by the decisions. He said: “It’s a clear penalty. They [VAR] are horrible against us and it’s the third time in a row. “We have a goal against Arsenal denied with handball, we have a goal against Leicester in the cup with a hand and today, it is a penalty but the foul goes against us. “This has to stop of course but we were not worried at half-time. Anambra govt explains deductions from workers’ salaries

The Anambra State government, on Tuesday, said that the deductions being made from salaries of state workers are to stabilise the capital of Ndiolu Micro Finance Bank (NMFB) Limited. Mr Harry Udu, Head of Service in Anambra, who briefed newsmen in Awka, said that the deductions were made after due consultation with labour unions. Udu explained that it was rather unfortunate that some opposition political parties were playing politics with the issue. The HoS said the board and management of the bank presented the challenge to stakeholders and leaders of the workforce, after which they agreed that deductions be made according to grade levels to facilitate capitalisation. Security agencies remain helpless as South East descends to anarchy, policemen hide uniforms

Since February when the first attack on police men commenced, rather than abate, there have been increasing cases of such attacks, in all the South eastern states, and this has spiralled into the South South, with states like Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom and Cross River getting its own share of the ugly incident. What began as attacks on policemen on checkpoints in remote areas of states in the South East zone has further moved to taking battles right to the stations of policemen, killing them and burning down facilities, and most worrisome is that it is now happening in urban areas, some of the places deem to be the most protected. DAILY POST reports that this has now become a worrisome trend in the zone, and has moved from just police facilities to other government institutions, with offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) being burnt down in some states of the zone. More worrisome is that no one or group has owned up to the attacks, nor have they been any reaso

An expanse plot of land belonging to the Nigerian Army in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger is harbouring armed bandits terrorizing the state, PRNigeria reports. The Nigerian Army is mapping out new ways to curb the activities in the area and in neighbouring communities. The bandits have established camps at Matan Kari, Fagai, Ozowo, Bihima and Kan Libo, among other mountains inside the Army land. The camps, PRNigeria reports, are mountainous areas, within the massive hectare, where gangs first gather their abducted victims, before moving them to Kaduna, Zamfara and other Northern States, via forests. They are also being used by bandits operating within the axis to congregate herds of rustled cattle, before ferrying them beyond the State’s borders. The ‘flat and levelled surfaces’ on top of the mountains, according to an undercover security officer and some locals, is where a yet-to-be-identified private helicopter often ‘touches down’. Restructuring: Nigeria won’t survive beyond 2023, you’ll blame yourself – Bamgbose to Senator Lawan

He noted that in the face of insecurity and aggressive ethnic agitations, restructuring had become inevitable, adding, “I seriously doubt if Nigeria can survive beyond 2023 without holistic restructuring.” The lawyer believed that the Senate President has a very narrow understanding of what restructuring of the country is all about. Bamgbose was reacting to a recent statement by Lawan that State Governors should first and foremost restructure their States before canvassing for restructuring at the Federal level. Lawan made the comment while reacting to the deliberations of the Southern Governors. And Bamgbose said it was expected of the Senate P
