Mary J Blige Officially Files For Divorce From Husband After 12 Years Of Marriage

According to TMZ, Mary J. Blige has officially filed for divorce from her husband and manager, Martin ‘Kendu’ Isaacs,

Reports have it that the singer is seeking for dissolution on grounds of irreconcilable differences, and she stated the date of their separation as ‘to be determined’.

Though it is still unclear what caused both parties to decide to go their separate ways, J. Blige has also asked the court to deny her husband spousal support.

In her 2014 interview with Stella Magazine, the singer noted that it was quite an ordeal being married to her manager. “He always has my back. He’s going to fight to the death for Mary J. Blige. The downside is that there’s no separation; it’s on all the time,” she reportedly said.

“When you don’t feel like answering to your manager, he’s still your husband. If one of you doesn’t want to talk about something right now, you have to respect that. And you have to respect each other’s space,” said the singer who banned her husband from having female friends.

“All females for me, all guys for him. There’s none of that, ‘Oh, that’s my female friend. Oh, that’s my guy friend.’ No. Not in a marriage, I’ve never seen that work,” she had said.

The couple tied the knot in 2003 and their union did not bring forth any children.

The duo are yet to address the public on their divorce.
