American-Born Nigerian Rapper Wale Welcomes First Child, Names Her Oluwakemi
Award-winning American rapper of Nigerian descent, Wale has welcomed a child with his girlfriend, Chloe Alexis.
According to TMZ, The emcee had to cancel a Brooklyn performance on Friday night, July 22nd so he could be with his girlfriend who delivered their bouncing baby girl in a hospital in New York after almost 72 hours of labour.
Wale, had to ditch an appearance at the Barclays Center for ‘One Africa Music Fest’ to witness the birth of his child. Commenting on his bundle of joy, Wale wrote on Twitter, “I never cried and smiled at the same time until today… She so beautiful slim… She perfect.”

Wale, real name Olubowale Victor Akintimehin, has hinted at his want for a family and a child. In some of his most personal songs, Wale often speaks of a yearning for a family and dealing with loss. In ‘Matrimony’ with Usher, he spoke of a miscarriage with a lover. He said, “Cause when we lost our baby, I got shady, shit got too dark/Soft, and I thank you baby, you strong”.
The rapper has named his daughter, Zyla Moon Oluwakemi.
