Insecurity: Invite Babangida, Gowon, Abdulsalam, others now – Clark to Buhari

Elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to address Nigerians on the increasing spate of insecurity in Nigeria.

Clark advised Buhari to bring former army generals and leaders, such as Ibrahim Babangida, Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalam Abubakar to the table on how to solve the pressing challenges.

He said that neither the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) nor the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can fix the myriad of security challenges the country is being faced with.

Clark, a former Minister of Information, stated this during an interview on Channels Television’s Newsnight which aired on Sunday.

“Let President (Muhammadu Buhari) call all of us. APC cannot do it alone, PDP will not either. Call the leaders, there are all generals in this place, General Gown, General Babangida and all of them,” he said.

“Abdusalam is there talking every time. Nigeria does not lack people. Let the President come out to see his people. Let him invite his people and discuss with them, what do we do with our country?”

Clark said that all Nigerian leaders must come together to address the problems facing the country, adding that the citizens have no other country to call their own.

The elder statesman made these remarks five days after governors from the southern region conveyed an emergency security meeting in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

The Governors, as DAILY POST earlier reported, condemned open grazing and movement of cattle from the Northern region to the South.

The governors further called for a national conference to determine national questions bothering on the nature of Nigeria’s federalism and federal character in national appointments, among other issues.
